Car Seats - Isofix base

What is ISOFIX?

ISOFIX is a system that is internationally recognized as a standard connection for child seats in passenger cars. It is the safest, easiest, and fastest way to correctly secure a car seat in a car without using the seat belt.

The ISOFIX mounting brackets are located between the seat and the backrest of the car seat and are firmly connected to the car body. The child seat has special hooks that can be clicked into these brackets.

Why ISOFIX?

Recent research shows that as many as 52% of car seats that use a seat belt are not securely fastened. This makes driving dangerous, but the ISOFIX system puts an end to that. With ISOFIX, it is virtually impossible to install the car seat incorrectly.

About ISOFIX

ISOFIX falls under the International Organization for Standardization, which means that safety standards are independently set by members from 165 different countries. The baby seat category has a standard attachment point that is anchored in the car, allowing ISOFIX child seats to be secured quickly and safely: a safe alternative to securing seats with seat belts.

The system can be found all over the world under different names, such as LATCH and UAS in America and Canfix in Canada. It is also known as the Universal Child Safety Seat System. Cars built after 2002 are equipped with ISOFIX connectors as standard.
